Hillsdale is unique in the way that it has small learning communities where students are divided into houses based on the classes they’re enrolled in. This system emphasizes culture (and virtues) and community and the Cusco house that I’m currently in is a great example, Cusco house teachers serve as role models to students-they act with integrity, the sense of community, and love or care.

Talking about unique, Hillsdale’s one-of-a-kind graduation requirement is perhaps the most unique character of the school. Hillsdale has this Capstone project (similar to Colleges’ Senior thesis) in addition to its academic requirements. Many people dislike this system and transferred to other high schools while others value this opportunity to make a small difference, but be it favorable or undesirable, those who managed to pass the defense will be ready for college and are ahead of the game.

Overall, really cool school. Excellent arts program with its annual Knight Moves (a major dance show) and expansive music program-- choir, band, wind ensemble, orchestra, jazz band, you name it. Great at providing a safe and comfortable environment with daily advisories in order to build relationships with students and teachers, and good resources with office hours and a health center for those with mental illness. Honestly incredibly diversity, with an even 30-30-30 split between whites, Asians, and Latinx, with the other 10% of other ethnicities. While it is pretty average in academic and sports performance, Hillsdale more than makes up for it with an excellent community and school spirit.
Hillsdale has been filled with a lot of ups and downs. With our small learning environments and weekly fire alarms, our school brings many haltering surprises to its students and staff. All throughout high school I have made so many well rounded and supportive friends. I am a tri-sport athlete and I love getting support from all of my friends. Even though learning can be hard, all of my teachers have tried to make learning fun and interesting. For example, we will act out scenes from Shakespeare and we will watch our teachers dance battle it out on the gym floor. Overall from freshmen year all up until now I have had a good experience.
