The environment is very nice, all the teachers are nice and the school works hard to make sure everyone is included and feels at home. The counselors and principles are especially amazing because they all love the students and will listen to anything you have to say. One aspect which is key to HHS is the house system, where you are in one of three houses for you freshmen and sophomore year and in a new house junior and senior year. There are three houses for underclassmen and upperclassmen. How it works is that you will have the same core teachers for two years because they are the core teachers of the house and is a class progresses such as math the teacher will be your teacher both years. I personally don't mind it but it depends on if you specifically.

The small learning communities that Hillsdale High School has recently implemented are very helpful. Students get more of a one-on-one teacher student interaction which helps students to gain trust from their teachers and ask questions or get extra help without feeling uncomfortable. However, the downside to these smaller communities is that a group of students travels with the same basic class teachers such as english and history for two years. So if the student has problems with any of the teachers or students they have to stay with them.
Love the small learning community concept. Very unique learning environment. Teachers have more time for the students. And as a student, I get continuous interaction with my room teacher for the duration of my years at Hillsdale. This helps the teachers to know me well and knows how best to help me with my education needs. The small learning community concept helps with the students bonding. We support each other like sibblings.
