I love Hillsboro High School. The teachers and staff have taught me so much. Growing up in Hillsboro, KS has been such a huge blessing to me.
I like that it is a small school with experienced, caring teachers. The teachers really care about a student as an individual. A student isn't "just a number" at Hillsboro Middle/High School.
Overall, my experience with Hillsboro High School has been okay. Hillsboro has shown potential, but there are many ways it could improve. Last year, students took a survey sent out by a student about school safety. Unfortunately, many, if not most students at HHS do not feel safe. This year, however, more thorough drills will be put into place. My hope for the school is better teacher/student relationships. Quite a few students feel out of place at school, and feel no connection with teachers and even fellow classmates. Currently, a group is working on these issues, but it may be some time before big changes occur.
My experience about Hillsboro Middle School is when Mr. Oelke makes funny jokes up. Mr. Oelke is a funny teacher I had him through 6-8. In High School I'm a Freshmen it's fun being a Freshmen. My favorite classes in Freshmen are all of them. What I would change about High School is having more class opportunities.
I like how my school tries to do things to get us involved. For how small our school is, they do a lot outside of school to make sure we have fun for the four years we're here. 5th quarters, eclipse viewing, dances, and games around holidays are all great ways our school helps us. Pretty much all of the teachers are nice and easy to talk to. We go through all of the college prep stuff not only as seniors, but they are starting in middle school now. We are very fortunate that our school has implemented the STEM classes not only in the high school but the middle and elementary schools too. Pathways is another way they are helping us for our future. Not a lot of schools have this program, and while we don't have AP classes, our ability to go through pathways definitely helps us decide either what career we want or which ones we don't want. Our school definitely does all it can to improve our lives not only in high school, but after as well.
Hillsboro High is a small school with many opportunities. However, it has few class choices. We only have the choice to learn one foreign language: Spanish. Also, we don't have many clubs. We're pretty much limited to FFA, Forensics, and Jazz Band. If you're looking for a school that gets you a good education, Hillsboro High is right for you. If, however, you're looking for a school with a lot of diversity and choices, you should probably consider a different one.
I love attending Hillsboro High School, truly. The teachers and staff are friendly and always help me if I need it. I am able to choose which classes I want to take, talk to my guidance counselor about what will work best for me (and my future), and also have the opportunity to take college classes for both High School and College credit. The amazing community we have here is incomparable to any other school. Our school spirit, dances, and other activities show it in such an obvious way. The academics, sports, music, theater, and spirit are just a couple things that make me proud to be a Hillsboro Trojan.
My experience at Hillsboro High School was a positive one. The teachers related well to the students, the counselor was helpful in aiding students in their area of interest and helping them start off on the right path. I was fortunate to be able to finish High School with 15 credit hours, and every one of them transferred over to the College I ended up attending. I don't think I would change anything that the teachers did if I were to go back. They taught with passion and they really knew their stuff.
The teachers care for the learning of the students
We have a good amount of resources at our school. I think we keep up on technology pretty well and the condition of the school building and facilities are always clean and neat. There aren't very much college prep resources or tutoring, but overall it's okay.
The teachers at the school I attend are very good. They are very easy to talk to when I need help and are always willing to. They are easy to get a long with, and it's not very hard to get one-on-one time with them.
There are many activities that students can participate in that suits their interests. We have a good amount of sports to pick from and fun activities like book club or chess club. I think that our school does a good job of providing activities that suit a lot of people at our school.
they are fun! FCCLA was the best!
It was good. Teachers are helpful and some of them have incredible senses of honor. Definitely had more than one favorite! The school is small but has a lot of energy and heart.
There were never any major problems.
They had great food. A lot of it was homemade too!
