I’m very thankful for the diverse clubs that are available at Hillcrest. Whether it’s sports, academics, or even hobbies like reading or anime, Hillcrest has a lot to offer and something for everyone! The staff have put a ginormous amount of effort into making students feel they belong, regardless of background or circumstances. Not to mention the multitude of opportunities provided for students aspiring for success and willingly to invest effort into reaching it. From the excellent selection of teachers to the absolutely stellar counselors who are extremely understanding and generous in their accommodations. Each and every single member of Hillcrest’s staff pours their heart and soul into their work, doing all they can to ensure students reach their maximum potential. Admittedly, the hallways can be crammed at times, but the people filling them are some of the best peers and role models you’ll ever come across.
Hillcrest never failed in the culture and pride area! Sports games were always packed and PTA/alumni were heavily involved. Our school definitely always had a spotlight held over it. However, I feel as though internships should have been more of a topic during my time there. College counseling was limited as we had a large amount of students and a small amount of college counselors. Overall, it was a great experience and I’m proud to be alumn.
My opinion, Hillcrest has prepared me a lot. They offer you tutoring, internships, and etc. They try to help as many students as they can. It’s all up to the students on what they want to do with their life. My personal experience in Hillcrest has its ups and downs. I’m currently a AP and Honors student. When I first started high school they didn’t want me to have any honors classes, because it was to “full”. So through out my years I managed my classes. Though to me I felt I deserved to be in a more advanced class. So I spoke up and finally got what I wanted. In the end, I kept up in the classes and very proud to say it as well! I appreciate Hillcrest accepting my request and don’t regret it one bit.
