If I had written my review a year ago, I probably would have given this school 5 stars. Unfortunately, the current administration has completely dragged this school down the toilet. The new head of school is awful! They have fired so many quality teachers this year and the communication is horrendous. It is apparent that they are only interested in their social media presence and their image in the community; not about having a quality education. Hillcrest used to be a family environment but that is no longer. I encourage you to talk to CURRENT parents and read CURRENT reviews of this school as it has done a complete 180 in the past 2 years. If the current head of school is still in charge when you read this, RUN!
We LOVE Hillcrest! Both of our kids went to the preschool for 3 years and now I have one in Kindergarten and one going into 3rd grade. When considering a private, Christian school, we didn't even look anywhere else because we knew that at Hillcrest they honor God above all else and the staff truly invest in and mentor their students. Hillcrest is not just "Christian" in name. The teachers and staff truly aim to glorify God in all they do. The academics have also been excellent as well as the extra curricular activities they offer. I was very excited to hear that they started an elementary worship team this year as we are a family who loves playing music. Another thing we love is their "Bible Buddy" program. During elementary chapel each child is paired with a Bible Buddy (an older elementary student) who sits with them and helps them navigate through their Bible and talk through the subject matter at chapel each week. We are truly blessed to call Hillcrest part of our family.
As an alumni of Hillcrest and now a graduate of college, I can't speak more highly of this school. In my 4 years of high school, I was equipped with an education that challenged me with rigorous academics and a strengthened relationship with God through faith-based themes in every class. The teachers all gave of their personal time to go above and beyond to ensure I understood and excelled. The small student to teacher ratio helped me get a personalized education fit to my personality and learning style that I couldn't have gotten anywhere else. Because there was a small student body, there was enough room for anyone to be part of multiple clubs, sports, or ASB! As a result of my years of education at Hillcrest, I was more than prepared for college and I'm now a proud college graduate onto a strong career in business!
