HRHS is an amazing school! A majority of the teachers care deeply about their students and form connections with them. At Ranch it is pretty standard to hear about a teacher coming to school early or staying late in order to help their students. Many teachers are involved as sponsors of clubs or coaches of teams. If they aren't a leader, then you will see teachers in the stands supporting students at each and every HRHS event/game. This school has an amazing staff, and it makes for amazing students, too.
The school is amazing! There are a lot of elective options that provide a large scope of activities, education, and more. There is also a lot of organizations on campus. There are clubs for math students, science students, performing art students, and options for other subjects as well.
I loved my high school experience at HRHS. As a disabled student (who had a 504 plan, but not in special education) who also happens to be gay (though I wasn't out at the time), I was never bullied and generally felt safe. I say generally because in my final year, there were two incidents in the city causing lockdowns/shutdown (the STEM School Highlands Ranch shooting and the Sol Pais thing), but I wouldn't have felt safe anywhere.
I strongly disagree with the label "just rich white kids" because the class of 2018 had two Prom (and HoCo) Kings, the racial composition reflects that of the surrounding area, and money just hides problems better. I had several friends with negligent/abusive parents who wouldn't prov. lunch despite having money (and no food to pack at their large home), and I saw marks sometimes.
I took many fun electives as well as rigorous AP classes, and I participated in lots of clubs including CyberPatriot and Board Game club. Overall, I had a great experience.
