I had a good group of friends and teachers that looked out for me. I got involved in extracurricular activities, and that's what really made the difference for me. My grades even got better when I was busier! I loved how the whole staff and administration was focused on making a great experience for everyone. I think the staff spoke more than twenty different languages, which was very helpful for parents and students that spoke little English. Overall, there was an expectation and a standard of excellence for everyone, and help for those that needed it. I loved my time in High school.

Excellent, caring teachers with high expectations run the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma program. This IB curriculum prepares students for college success. Most IB classes have fewer students than regular high school classes and the those kids are motivated and energized. Highland High School (HHS) offers many sports, clubs and extracurricular activities with high participation rates. HHS students can find friends who share their healthy interests. HHS offers private school level pursuits at a public school price. HHS Girls won State of Utah Basketball championship title in 2020.
Not only is the student body supporting and kind, but the teachers are too. All of my teachers at highland have been superb, especially in my AP classes. The positive and judgement free atmosphere takes away from the overall stress of school, leaving room for worrying about grades and other responsibilities. The school spirit is strong, but remains very positive. Our spirit week is always very festive, and sports games/dances are full of energy and passion. My only complaint about highland is the lack of support when it comes to college readiness. You don’t receive much help unless you really seek it out.
