Choosing this high school was one of the best decisions of my life! From amazing teachers to peers that support and get along with each other, High Technology High School provided me with the best possible high school experience I could have asked for. The academics are rigorous but manageable, and the clubs provide great opportunities to meet and become friends with others who share your interests. The hour long lunch in the middle of every day is a perfect time to get some extra studying done as well as generally hanging out with friends. I have met so many great people by going to this school, and I believe that I changed for the better having gone here over my home high school. There are people from every walk of life and by going to this school I was able to learn so much, not just from academics but also from my fellow students.
High Tech is good for preparing students in the STEM fields and give them rigorous coursework for college classes. The environment can be competitive and small, but it's not bad if you find a group of people that you trust. Teachers can be receptive and friendly as well. Great school overall!
Most of the teachers at High Tech are extremely invested in their students and want them to succeed. They are willing to offer you extra help and support if you don't understand something. However, the students and support staff are not good at High Tech. A lot of students are too competitive, which sometimes make them come of rude. The support staff, such as guidance counselors, care more about the ranking of the school than the students mental health and well being. They will chose a conversation with a senior about college over a conversation with an underclassman struggling with their mental health. I think High Tech's work load prepared me for college, and I think the treatment I received from the support staff taught me how to ask for the help I need from the right people.
