There are a lot of excellent teachers who really care about the kids. There are also lots of opportunities that other school districts may not even be aware of. My son has competed in Technology Student Association, which he has won on the state level and went on to compete in the national tournament. He has also competed in several hack-a-thons, which are really rewarding experiences. He entered into a math competition at Princeton with classmates, placing pretty high for their first time. All freshman enter into a state-wide science fair, his team having won a prize for their submission. The teachers and fellow classmates are very supportive and encouraging, it is a wonderful place to go to school.

So far my experience at HTHS has been pretty good. The classes are engaging, the teachers are slightly lax, but pretty knowledgeable. Most of the students are nice and willing to help each other out.

However, even as a sophomore, the workload could be very overwhelming, resulting in just a few hours of sleep every night. A few students actually drop out

Overall, attending HTHS is a great decision for me; I couldn't imagine myself being in any other school. We have a diverse student body here, all students are involved in extracurricular activities (yes we have many varsity athletes despite being a nerd school). Unlike many teens in the "regular" high schools, kids in this school don't really party and stuff because we are too focused on school work. If you are a middle school student interested in STEM, you should considering applying here; you'll meet people who have the same interest as you and the best facilities to guide you through high school.
The coursework is mostly focused on engineering rather than software, no matter what anyone tells you. It's pretty clique-y and school-sanctioned social gatherings get pretty awkward. Plus, there's really no creative outlet - most people go back to their sending district for sports and music.
