Overall, my high school experience has been anything but ordinary. HTHS as a school demands hard work and dedication to your studies, and if you are not able to work at this high caliber and keep up with the rigorous coarse work, you can find yourself in a bit of trouble. All of the teachers are wonderful and supportive, and are really some of the best teachers I have every had. The students are competitive, but that is to be expected when you are thrown in a pool with so many intelligent and driven people. Although some students prefer to read their physics textbooks over having face-to-face human conversations, HTHS is charming in a nerdy way. Accommodations for health issues, however, are far and few in between which really puts a damper on all of the other positive attributes of the school. However, High Tech is still a great school full of opportunities for those willing to work hard and take on the challenge that is High Technology High School.

It's a super stressful and competitive environment. If you aren't interested in engineering or think you might enjoy something else, do not even think about applying. Class choices are extremely limited so if you're hoping to explore, this is not the place from you. School spirit is pretty low. However, I have made a lot of amazing friends here and if I was given the choice to go somewhere else, I'd say no simply because of them.
I want to love my school but I don’t. It’s definitely geared toward very smart males, particularly in the area of math. Yet, I don’t feel so challanged. Socially, it’s meh. There are very few clubs or sports and not much school spirit. If your parent is a doctor or engineer, you’re going to be better off, but monitority groups win at all things academic. I started out at Stuyvesant and was much happier and more challanged. Also, it’s not uncommon for every other person to be on “smart meds” and drugs are prevalent.
