I love High Tech High School! I am a musical theater major, and although this school is amazing with the arts, now I feel as if we are getting less and less funding. We make the best with what we can though, and are going to put on a great spring show! For the school in general, I think everyone would appreciate more AP's junior year instead of only 2 options and then all AP's senior year, but at least we have the chance to get them in then with many options.
What I like about High Tech High School is that there's so much diversity and opportunity and it creates a safe space for every student. They're always open to helping students, and being comfort. What I may not agree with is the lack of representation for certain ethnic groups, however it's something we're working on!
High Tech has wonderful programs. As a vocational school, it allows high school students like me to delve deeper into their field of interest alongside normal coursework. Seeing the potential of your peers through their performances or a 3D-modeling project creates a really invigorating atmosphere for growth and development. I will say that downsides can be found in administration. The people themselves tend to be kind, but the decisions made by the board almost never benefit students. Out of this has come a very student-run community, where most events and other unique additions to school culture are brought up by student councils and organizations. I would highly recommend it nonetheless.
