I love HTHCV I transferred here my freshman year and I've learned so much about myself and how I can be of help to my community.
I love High Tech High Chula Vista because of the environment. It is such a small school that everyone is so close with each other and the connections between students and staff is so strong! We are a project based learning school where we do hands on learning and prepare for college and after college.
High Tech has wonderful, and empathetic teachers who genuinely care about their students. They provide a safe space to make mistakes (or as known their as “Mistaks”). Their updated take on education keeps kids from being pulled into the mentally draining way of education that’s been around for so long.
I liked High Tech High project based method, and being able to call our teachers by their first name like co-peers.
My experience so far in High Tech High Chula Vista has been awesome! This school is project bases learning with real cooperative community learning experiences. I joined the Track and Field and Cross country freshman year and it was an experience I will never forget. Everyone is nice and caring and always looks out for one another. I am really enjoying my time in High Tech High Chula Vista even though we are now learning from our computers. My teachers this year have been super supportive with everyone because they know online learning can be challenging at times. Overall my experience with this school has been amazing so far.
The teachers are patient and kind. Thankful for all of the special times spent at High Tech High Chula Vista. I would highly recommend this high school to anyone looking for a safe and loving environment
I love the trust the school has to the students and the connection between student and teacher. High Tech has been a very positive learning environment for me. It is important for students to receive/give feedback, acknowledge growth, and create reflections. High Tech accustoms students to practicing tasks for future careers. The only critique I'll give is it does not fully prepare students for college, since the classroom settings are usually not set up for lectures, the lack of textbooks, etc.
High Tech High is a project based school, most of the things you learn revolve around projects. In this school you will learn to work with others as you will be working in groups more often than not. The teachers here are all very friendly and are willing to help their students whenever they need it, teachers are a very big reason that this school is successful. The teachers all believe in their students, because of this, the students believe in their teachers which allows them to work better than at other schools. The one thing that this school is lacking is college readiness. Most students often complain about not feeling ready for college during senior year. Our math program is also behind other traditional schools by a year, Because of this, we don't tend to be ready for the SAT and ACT's as we end up having to do most of the studying ourselves as we have to catch up to other students.
I went to High Tech High for the project-based learning and the welcoming culture. I can say as a HTHCV alumni that this school excels on both of these counts. In every class of every grade level, expect to participate in a semester or unit-long project of some kind, depending on who your teacher is. Most projects involve the community somehow. In Junior year, you will go on a month-long internship of your choice that is meant to gear your mind toward what you may possibly want to pursue in your future studies or your career. Aside from the academic uniqueness, HTHCV is a great place to be for the culture and environment. Everyone is very welcoming and accepting; you won't have to worry about bullying here.
This is a good school for students who like to work in groups and be very involved. The school is very small so we are all very famously with each other. I personally would like my kids to go to a public school for arts and math. This school is also very project based and hands on which is very good. They are also very high in communication, due to the exhibitions and presenting they do each year. TPOLS help students a lot with fear of talking to a crowd, you can see the change of students who went from being shy to leading a class. There sports are okay, these past few years they have been doing very well in soccer. There food is okay they don’t have a variety of stuff, and they only have one station in the school. There classrooms sizes are small so that u can be connected to the teacher more. They do have a lot of resources for colleges/jobs/ etc. the school is very open to a lot of change. They provided activities so that we won’t be in class all the time.
Out of my 4 years at High Tech High Chula Vista, it has been a memorable experience. I love the project-based hands-on learning that goes with our school. The teachers are among the very best as they are able to connect with their students. I can say as a current student who is about to graduate, I have a great relationship with many of my current/former teachers. Our teachers really want the students to think and succeed. One of the things that I would want to change is an improvement in the sports program because we are not recognized as a school that is very good in sports. The other thing I would want to change is for our classes to help us prepare for college as well as the SAT. For the SAT, I had to study myself just to try to get a decent score. After I took the SAT, I found out the content that was on the SAT was the exact stuff I was learning a few weeks later. College is a hard transition for HTHCV students as well, so having that college readiness will really help.
I have learned so much about myself and how I learn! I have developed professional skills and amazing life skills. Though High Tech High is a college prep school they take it in a completely different direction and not only teaches you skills you need for college but through out your life.
I loved attending HTHCV. Out of everything that is different about this school, what stands out the most is the community that is fostered there. Students are genuinely cared about by staff and fellow students and made to believe that they can achieve anything they put their minds to. We are challenged not only academically but personally to grow as individuals just as much as we are expected to grow as students. Students are encouraged and aided to be their own person and create their own future by starting clubs, taking on leadership roles, and leading classes. HTHCV is not a normal school, and it will not work for everyone. However, if you have a student who is driven to be the best they can be, HTHCV will make sure they achieve all of their goals.
I like how the teachers all get to know you on an out of school level not just a classroom setting. Academics are okay math could be better. It's a great environment with a great view of nature. Teachers have lots of resources and can help you with anything you need. Teachers are always there to help you when you need it.
High Tech High Chula Vista is a school in which you have opportunities to work with the professional aspect but as well as explore different career paths. Something I would want to improve is more art and music opportunities such as band or dance. Overall, HTHCV has a really good balance.
My school is an amazing community to be in. I have been in the high tech system for the past 5 years and I would not change it for anything. I have been able to create amazing relationships with teachers. I have also been able to be able to learn such amazing skills for life after high school.
I like the small community, teachers know each students and call them by their names. Good hand-on projects.
