I'm an upcoming Sophomore enrolled in the IB program at High Point Central, and I could list many pros and cons of attending. Academics here are lackluster if you are unaffiliated with the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, the school itself can be dangerous, and gang violence isn't a stranger to the school. We have a large student body, which makes classes packed and rowdy, regardless of our abundance of teachers; on the flip side, there are many clubs and sports as a result of student involvement. I've found many supportive teachers and counselors to help me on my journey to higher education. I feel comfortable sitting in a High Point Central classroom or while partaking in school events. To sum it up, High Point Central is no better nor no worse than your traditional large inner-city high school, but the IB program is something to look into!

The school has a ok community, but it needs funding desperately and needs more staff. We were currently at the beganing of the school year 45 teachers short. We need renovations as well with bathrooms that are unusable in some places and unsanitary in others. The school is in shambles and is broke. We have one working girls bathroom on our 2nd floor which is at the front of the building
The construction that is done is bare minimum to keep our school running. The oning outside our school which gives students shelter from the rain is breaking off in pecies and is just dismantles the broken parts with no effort to repair or replace it. Administration at our school. Often handals things poorly last year they had cars towed without warning after along with charging students at our title one school thirty dollars to park making students on part time income.
High Point Central is a diverse and academically challenging school, with a lot of options for sports, the arts, and even computer science! The teachers are excellent, and the school spirit is amazing! I feel safe and ready to learn everyday, and am excited to finish this school year!
