Hesston is a very good school but the social environment is very clique based. If you do not do sports or fit in with the group you want, you will have difficulties making friends. Being different is not very accepted there but mostly if you are nice to people and don’t cause drama, you will be fine. Education is decent at Hesston, the teachers care about the students and there are some fantastic teachers.
My child is Autistic. Being in a small High School allowed Teachers to know her well but it also had draw backs in that there were limited subjects offered limited hours and she didn't get along with the Art Teacher, Art is her favorite and there were no other Art Teachers to learn from.
Hesston is a great community and has a great school. Almost everyone in the high school participates in some sort of extracurricular activity and does well. I would like to see the facilities get a upgraded because the wrestling room is small and the doors do not fit a wrestling mat through them. However Hesston has just gotten a new baseball field along with a team to go with it which is pretty exciting. The academics at Hesston are fantastic and I feel prepared to go to college. The teachers take the time to help and they have fun teaching. You can tell that they love to be there and they know that they are making a difference.
The school and faculty were kinda and supportive. The major thing i want to see changed is the large amount of busy work that teachers give. There is a large amount of repetition and not as much focus on the need of the individual.
It’s an average school. It’s very easy to graduate from. If you would consider your child/yourself intelligent or have lofty goals, don’t send them here. Unless you’re working some kind of magic, you won’t be getting into any crazy good school. Most people end up going to either community college or a state college. However, if your student is an athlete, this could be the school for them. There is a big focus on athletics and all of the teams are usually very good. Diversity is horrible. Almost everyone in the town is Caucasian, and some form of Christian. Teachers are okay at best. There are a couple of good ones in the mix, but most of them aren’t that great. Some of them have unorthodox teaching styles that simply aren’t effective at teaching students what they need to learn. The others don’t care a whole lot about what they’re teaching. However, there are some that are very good about their job and care about their students and the material they’re teaching.
I have enjoyed my time at Hesston High School, and hope to end out my senior year well. I have played tennis here, been apart of band and choir, and been in a couple clubs. I most of the staff and students here, and think the the classes are pretty good too.
Hesston High School is one of the greatest schools in the state of Kansas. I believe that going to this small school not only shaped me as a student but as well as a person. Hesston High goes way beyond school with teachers who care for you whole hearty and want the best for you. The only change I would add to Hesston High school would be some updates in the High School all of our other schools are all new with the high school being 54 years old a lot of things are running down.
Teachers make plenty of opportunities for students to thrive and learn in the environment. Not only do they support the students in and out of the school setting, they make material understandable on different levels for different kids.
The Hesston school district has been an amazing place for me to grow up. The schools are incredible with incredible staff. I have been prepared for college and my future and feel that I am blessed.
Hesston Highschool is a place that pushes for excellence in everything they do. It is a good place for those who are motivated to be great
The teachers are lovely and most try their best to make sure the content is understood. It’s a smaller school (about 260 students as of 2017), so most everybody knows everybody. I myself have never witnessed excessive bullying, but there will always be a few bad eggs. Bullies are taken care of by the staff once the problem is brought to their attention. The curriculum is easier than most schools; about 25 to 33 percent of students have a 4.0 GPA. Lots of effort is given to help student prepare for their next step in life with frequent visits from representatives of several colleges in the area.
I loved my time in Hesston so much!! I loved it being small and knowing everyone and growing up together.
Hesston is a fun, clean environment. I thoroughly enjoy my time at school and find myself constantly being pushed to do my absolute best by the faculty and students around me.
Great community provides a lot of opportunity for everything to develop from robotics to music. The school is a great location with lots of resources.
I would really like to see more diversity and acceptance of different cultures. I would also like to see teachers stop babying students. There should also be honors classes.
Our school is a small 3A school were the teachers who are very focus on making you successful. It's a great school to be very involved in many sports and other activities but also keep a good GOA.
Hesston High school has a family type atmosphere that just makes you feel like you’re at home. The community and the students are friendly and we support each other on and off campus. The school is just big enough to have all the amenities of a large town school but small enough to provide one on one time with the teachers. The teachers are always willing to provide assistance when I’m not fully understanding something. I feel the Hesston High school administration has prepared me very well to move onto the next step of my life. This has made my choice to continue my education after high school an easier one. I have currently applied and been accepted to a University in the area. I really wouldn't change a thing about Hesston High School. It's a Great school.
