I graduated Herricks High School in 2016, after attending both their respective middle school and elementary school. Herricks High School felt more like a home to me than school. The teachers were extremely personal and aided individuals to do their best. The community embraced uniqueness and diversity in individuals rather than making people feel out of place for being different. There was a strong emphasis on growth in the school to the point where I did not have a difficult transition into college, whereas I know many students do. There was an ample amount of resources available through being a student there, such as access to databases and other important tools. Our music department excelled every single year, along with our improving sports program. The school allowed students to create their own clubs about almost everything that they wanted, giving students a chance to discover new interests.

In one word: Asian. Herricks is extremely academically competitive and their main focus is to prepare students for college. Teachers are generally willing to help during both class and off periods. The science and music extracurricular programs really stand out. Sports are mostly for fun or adding to resumes, though there are some actually dedicated athletes on each team. There are enough clubs that everyone can find a place to be involved after school.
My experience at Herricks High School has been great. This high school keeps me motivated and driven every single day. We have great teachers and our education is definitely one of the best! There has never been a day where I have not left without a smile on my face. I would not change one thing about this school!
