I loved how kind the teachers that I've had were. I especially love how they all try their best for their students no matter what for them to be successful. The place itself is now two stories, the library is huge now compare to what it once was a few years back. Definitely a great place to chill and do work! Love the amount of clubs, especially the fact we have an LGBTQ+ club!
This school is in a very well resourced area and has access to some great programs such as the academy and the governors school. In general, the teachers are very kind and engaged in your learning and the counselors are good at resolving issues with scheduling and teacher disputes. The only complaints I have are that the school keeps many doors locked due to a security shortage meaning that finding bathrooms to use, as well as navigating the school can be quite difficult. Additionally, the afterschool program is run rather messily which can mean that funding, field space, scheduling, and equipment are botched frequently. Overall, a very good school.
As far as high schools go, Herndon is a pretty good school. It has a diverse student body and I’ve gotten to know and get close to many great people over the years. There are some toxic teachers and counselors working here but most of the staff are kind and helpful. Now that the seemingly endless construction has finally finished, the building looks nice and has some good facilities. The academic programs are good and rigorous and there are quite a few extracurriculars and activities we can do. However, the school food is mediocre and the administration has some bad policies, especially with regards to phones and bathrooms.
