Overall, the teachers are average with a few being exceptional. The culture of bullying that exists in the district is rarely addressed by school officials. Unless your family had connections with school officials, you were a star athlete, or donated money to the district you couldn't expect to be cared about. Academically speaking the school did enough to get you through exams and make sure they met all guidelines but did not care if you truly comprehended the material for the long run. The facilities were very nice after the remodel.
What I enjoyed most about my time at Hermantown Senior High was my quality education and being able to see my friends everyday. I have 180 students in my graduating class so I know pretty much everyone who attends my school, this allows me to meet and create relationships with people that I will have for the rest of my life. I also enjoy the teachers, they are great people who are willing to help you learn as long as you are willing to put in the time and the work to become a better student. I have learned a lot of things during my time at HHS and it has made me become a better student, person, friend, teammate, and leader.
As a current senior at Hermantown High School, I can safely say that thus far I have had a well-rounded, enjoyable experience. Not only have I been able to grow my education, but I have gained confidence, friendships, etc. Since my freshman year, my teachers have made it clear that they want me and my fellow classmates to succeed. The work can be challenging at times, but teachers are always open to questions or after class visits. In addition, there's ample opportunity for students to find a club, organization, or sport they are interested in. In regards to a change I'd like to see at Hermantown, I have witnessed the fight against trying to prevent and stop students from vaping. While these problems take time to solve, I would like to see them improve. Efforts to stop students from vaping have been made, but personally I haven't noticed a substantial difference. Overall the atmosphere at Hermantown Senior High School is positive and I feel that many students share that perspective.
