Heritage Middle School Reviews
Rating 3.4 out of 5 5 reviews
It’s a great middle school with fantastic teachers. Even in high school, I still remember several of my teachers there, especially my 8th grade English teacher, Mrs. Biss, and my science teachers, Ms. Bergen and Ms. Cumbo. They also have great opportunities to pursue outside interests with sports and a few clubs. There’s not too many extracurricular resources, but overall, a solid middle school to build the foundation for a successful high school.
It's not a bad school- just many people are a-holes and it's hard to fit in. Personally, I've struggled with being shamed and rumors spread like wildfire. If you don't have money, you're weird. If you dress like an 8 year old, you get laughed at. It's not accepting at all. I'm thinking of transferring next year. However, the teachers I've interacted with are fairly nice- most of them are pretty passionate about teaching, although not a lot of kids respect the ones that are strict. If you're thinking about moving to Livingston and you're in 7-8th grade, don't come here. The school district has had many outbursts, and the education is getting worse and worse.
The school was overall pretty good while I was able to be in person last year. However, they have not handled remote learning very well at all. Us students have received 7 hour school days, and I have been personally receiving 3-5 hours of homework per night. However, I cannot speak on behalf of all students in the school. In my opinion, the school challenges us a bit too much in the sense that unless you are doing 3 or more hours of studying each night, there's hardly any chance of you getting an A in your classes. One thing I can speak about highly in this school is the extra curricular activities, which have honestly benefitted my mental health a lot. However, you have to maintain a C- or higher in all of your classes in order to participate in them, so they're kind of exclusive. The 7th grade is much better than the 8th grade.
