Heritage had excellent music and fine arts departments. Their orchestra received high scores at their assessments, the marching band won numerous 1st place trophies, and the theater/show choir put on numerous performances and even won 1st place at some of their events. Their athletic department was also very successful overall with numerous teams going to regionals and winning championships. Teachers help afterschool tutoring or even pulled students during Enrichment periods to give them additional help. Some teachers would even work in grade-wide tutoring workshops during Enrichment to have stations set up to help students study. However, the school's leadership and administration could use some work on communication with students and their fairness towards all students when it comes to discipline. In some cases, it appeared that certain athletes would receive special treatment or lesser punishments.
Heritage is a beautiful school that offers a plethora of studies to partake in. The energy is great there as well as the academics.
Overall I feel as if Heritage is much better than other potential public high schools in the state of Virginia. The majority of my teachers have been alright, though there are also some teachers who I'd say are amazing at what they do. Unfortunately the teachers that are bad at their jobs are absolutely horrible. The administration won't do anything about it because they simply believe we're mad about our grades, not the awful ways which we have been treated. If you're reading this and thinking about what classes to take in the tenth grade, don't take Advanced Chemistry. It's not worth the pain. Also, don't let the administration force you into classes you aren't prepared for in a desperate attempt for them to improve their statistics.
Heritage High School has a very welcoming environment. From my experience faculty continues to have a positive energy and they check on students.
Heriatge provides a wide variety of programs for students. They have everything from cosmeotology to auto tech. This is a school where the teachers get to know the students individually. They take the time to answer questions and provide an answer that the student can comprehend. Heritage also has an enrichment program set throughout the week. This is almost a study hall for everyone who needs to catch up on work on meet with a teacher. They provide a multitude of after school programs for student who need a little extra help. They have a variety of extracurricular programs such as track and soccer. Coaches become more like family when your apart of the team. The school has put on many productions such as "Beauty & The Beast". This play went on to recieve many awards in competitions around Virginia. Altogether, Heritage is an amazing school that provides opportunities to their students and push them to become better people in life. They will forever strive for greatness.
I’m currently in 11th grade at Heritage. The theater program and most of the teachers are great, but the guidance department is lacking. The don’t listen to what you want and seem to only care about statistics. If you get good grades then they try to force you into advanced and ap courses. If you go into the school saying that you want an advanced diploma then it is extremely hard to get out of.
Heritage high school Is one of the best and diverse school that you can go to In Lynchburg the one thing that I would change would be counseling department but Other than that it is an amazing school to attend to 10 out of 10 would recommend
While attending Heritage High School, I have had many different experiences that I will remember for my entire life. Teachers at the school are great and provide excellent resources that we can use to further our learning. There are many clubs that the school encourages students to join, these clubs can enhance students' learning in the classroom. The only downside to the school is the students who are unwilling to participate in class by not doing their homework and slacking on-off during class.
I went here a while back but still think its the best school in the district. The teachers were always understanding and pushed me to do my best. They made me feel as though if I put my mind to it I could do it. They supported me through hard time and good times. They gave me not only academic skills but life skills that I needed to survive in this world outside of high school.
Supportive and engaging experiences within the art department. Administration is heavily involved with each cultural facet of the the school's art program. Most core curriculum science teachers feel unprofessional and under the weather. Though, a positive environment with ample opportunities for natural leaders to excel.
Heritage is a very diverse school with the a really good social environment. The teachers are absolutely incredible and treat the kids like their own. The community is great and overall its a great school. Lynchburg City Schools has some issues on the higher up levels, but Heritage individually is a special place.
Heritage High school is a school that accepts you for who you are alot of people don't judge you based on what you look or act like, I'm glad that i'm going to Heritage High.
A heavily funded school with friendly staff and an encouraging principal. A diverse selection of electives and after-school activities.
I loved how diverse Heritage was. I also like the competitiveness of the school, everyone strives to do their best in anything there. Heritage is a home for any kind of student. Faculty members and staff are very welcoming. We recently got a new school building due to our last one flooding, the new building is huge and janitors, as well as students, keep it clean.
Heritage High School was okay for me. Some of the teachers were really willing to help other students and knew how to engage them, and others weren't so willing and ready. Academics-wise, the classes offered really prepared me for college. The guidance department is okay, it all depends on who was assigned to who. My guidance counselor was always willing to work with me and tried her best to make things happen for me so that I would have a better experience academically and socially. The only extremely unsatisfying experiences I had at Heritage were having teachers who wanted me to turn my work in on time but never held up their end of the bargain by grading my, along with others', work on time, and having my academic success slightly interrupted by people who did not care about whether or not they were in school.
Heritage High School is an amazing school, almost all of the teachers are extremely gifted in their profession. The student body is the most diverse in Lynchburg, by far.
I attended Heritage from my freshman year up through graduation. Overall, my experience was very good.
