I attended for years and love this school. However there was an overall lack of resources. Teachers love and care about the students but were often overworked teaching many different classes to make ends meet. 1 taught 2 sciences, math, and bible. There is not much academic opportunity. As of 2019 only 2 AP courses were offered. Graduates i know weren’t prepared for college and when I transferred to another school i was behind in some areas. The small class size can be good and bad as you can have closer friends but you don’t get to choose your friends. Minor bullying (nothing physical) and gossip were two problems I faced. There is no football, but other sports are offered, and you don’t have to tryout. If you are looking for arts this is not the school for you as they have taken a hit recently. As of 2019 no clubs are offered, so if you aren’t athletic there aren’t many extracurriculars for you. I would recommend for younger kids but would reconsider for middle/high school.
My son has attended HCA since kindergarten and is now in 4th grade. We are so appreciative of the faculty and staff for their hard work! There is no other place we would want our son to be. God's Word is taught daily and students are held to a high academic bar. Teachers really care about the students, extracurricular activities are varied, and opportunities abound for students to serve their community. This is an outstanding school.
I was not prepared well for college by this school. There was plenty to be involved in when it comes to extracurricular activities. They had arts, choir and theater, as well as all sports and were competitive in many however the quality of academics was severely lacking in my time there, specifically in the math and science department which is what I went on to get my degree in. The school culture was good and I had great relationships with many of my teachers despite the lack of adequate subject matter preparation.
