I have had 3 children attend Heritage Christian Academy. One graduated in 2019 and is in his sophomore year of college. The other 2 children are currently enrolled. My oldest son exempted 2 college courses based on his AP testing and one based on his dual enrollment course. He was completely prepared for college and currently maintains a 4.0 GPA. The school size, wonderful teachers, and Christian beliefs made it an incredible experience for him. He was allowed the opportunity to play 2 sports, perform in theatre, art and was provided with multiple leadership opportunities. Because of the fantastic coaching staff, my son has also been able to have the experience of playing college baseball. Most importantly, he has been prepared to defend his faith as well as to stay true to himself and his God based on the excellent support, mentorship and biblical education he received at HCA. We could not be happier with his experience or the current experience of my other 2 children.
The school has enabled me to pursue what I want in academically challenging courses and they are able to tailor each students needs. They also provide many community service opportunities. The property/facilities is ok, but that is because they moved in about two years ago in the new location. They have a good job fixing it up and they like to engage the students in the renovations.
I attended for years and love this school. However there was an overall lack of resources. Teachers love and care about the students but were often overworked teaching many different classes to make ends meet. 1 taught 2 sciences, math, and bible. There is not much academic opportunity. As of 2019 only 2 AP courses were offered. Graduates i know weren’t prepared for college and when I transferred to another school i was behind in some areas. The small class size can be good and bad as you can have closer friends but you don’t get to choose your friends. Minor bullying (nothing physical) and gossip were two problems I faced. There is no football, but other sports are offered, and you don’t have to tryout. If you are looking for arts this is not the school for you as they have taken a hit recently. As of 2019 no clubs are offered, so if you aren’t athletic there aren’t many extracurriculars for you. I would recommend for younger kids but would reconsider for middle/high school.
