My experience at HHS was definitely an experience. Freshmen year was probably the most crazy year of all for me. So many fights that the school was in the news every week. Students from Richmond High also snuck onto campus and lit an empty classroom on fire! My freshmen English teacher quit after 1 month, so for the entire school year I didn't have a teacher. I didn't have a English teacher my senior year either! The school really screwed the seniors up by not having enough teachers for them.
Speaking of teachers, my Geometry teacher didn't teach at all. I'm not even exaggerating. He never taught a lesson, and the students were vaping in class, playing music, napping, or working on work for another class. School most definitely knew about this teacher not teaching, but because he had "10 year" did nothing about it.
I've just graduated from college, and looking back, I do not feel like this school prepared me one bit. Very mediocre at best. And it being outdoors was horrible!

Hercules high school is a very community based school. Almost everyone knows everyone and a lot of families are involved in the community. The school itself is average but the people and community really builds the city’s foundation. Besides the community I have actually faced many obstacles at the school academically because of the lack of teachers. My junior year I had a substitute teacher for many of my classes prohibiting me from advancing academically. And for some classes with substitute teachers they did not seem qualified to grade my academic progress. The administration also canceled many organizations created by student leadership such as homecoming, the winter rally, and decision day rally. But a year later the new principal seems to be determined to help make a change and assist leadership with fun events for school spirit.
Overall, I have had a pretty good experience here at Hercules High School. The campus is pretty nice, and I like how open it is. I enjoy the fact that many students have the opportunity to sit down to eat lunch with their friends, while looking at the beauty of nature. Some improvements that I would personally like to see, are better resources to help seniors to prepare for college. I would like for the school to offer more college readiness programs, so students have the proper preparation needed in order to prepare themselves. Besides that, I enjoy the diverse culture at the school, and the nice people.
