Herbert Hoover Middle School Reviews

The teaching and academics in Herbert Hoover Middle School are quite excellent, however, that does not mean that the teachers are good. Some of the teachers are quite discriminatory and I have found that a couple of them are LGBTQ+phobic (As someone who is part of the community). But I believe the worst thing about this school is the students and the student culture. Some of the kids have bullied the teachers into crying. The kids promote doing bad and dangerous things. Some of the kids are racist and LGBTQ+phobic, and just really unaware of people who are different than them. Everyone is extremely anal about grades (even those who do not get good ones) and this creates a toxic environment. The facilities are fine, but they don't seem to use their money wisely like updating their atlases. The education is too lenient but otherwise, it is fine. Go to this school for the education, and find friends who aren't terrible people.
Excellent teachers who truly stepped up to the challenge during this COVID. They will quickly email responses to student questions in the evenings and even on weekends. My son turned in an assignment on a Sunday afternoon and had received teachers comments a couple of hours later in the evening!
This is a great school with wonderful teachers and staff. Educators make learning fun and are engaging. There is a lot of support for students and they are not bogged down by hours of homework. There is a good balance. They really focus on the student. This is a great place to learn and we feel lucky to be a part of this community.
