The Henry Viscardi School is where I grew up. Unlike any other school they treat me like I'm a normal functioning member of society! I love the teachers, the therapists, the classmates and everyone that worked with me!
As a student from K-12, there were many resources to enable the success of the students towards independent living. The school also provided a sense of community where each peer understood a similar perspective which provides the emotional support. However, I found there were limited opportunities to be prepared for the realities of living with a disability. Students must be shown how to make the adult world more accessible to them when the environment is hindering their success.
It’s my second home. I’ve attended the school for elementary, middle and high school. My school is like a big family. Everybody knows everybody. I am definitely going to miss it when I graduate.
