Patrick Henry High School has many teachers that clearly show their enthusiasm and passion for teaching high school students. Now being a Senior, I have had teachers who were very welcoming, told jokes with their students and would share their personal stories such as going scuba ice diving in Antarctica (Mr.Knapik, Calculus AB teacher) that made the class evermore inviting and interesting and more than just note-taking on a lecture. There is a diverse culture on campus, friendly upperclassmen and welcoming counselors who always give students opportunities in scholarships, jobs and internships. Not to mention the effort they put into school dances and football games that make them memorable too. On campus, their are a multitude of clubs and it's easy to start your own as well Although great in those subjects, I would recommend bringing your own lunch as their food isn't necessarily rated 5-stars restaurant gourmet style.
There is a tremendous amount of diversity at Henry high in terms of staff and students. However, our overall education needs, in my opinion, are not always provided. Some of our school counselors lack a sense of urgency when it comes to responding to their students, same with teachers, which makes it difficult considering the San Diego school district is still not in school for this semester yet. A significant number of teachers have been reported at the school for their unprofessionalism and rudeness towards students, which never received any consequences. None the less some excellent teachers care about the success of students at this school.
Tutoring and support is easily found around campus between student leadership and school staff. Education comes as a priority to the school. Besides education, Patrick Henry have strong sports and performing arts programs with electives ranging from pottery to musical theater, to computer graphics. The campus is somewhat large, but well kept, clean, and very organized. There are 2 security guards and a police officer on campus at all hours of the school day. After all, everyone does have their own experience with the school, good or bad. But if you keep your head straight and make good choices, you will do just fine at the school.
