Hempfield Senior High School Reviews

Great teachers! Several clubs and activities. A negative however is the lack of diversity and discipline when it comes to certain students. Another downfall is that the school does little to help students with the transition to college.
I loved the many different options of electives that I could take at Hempfield High School, they allowed for you to explore many different career paths. Though with that, I wish the teaching was a little more organized because I feel like some teachers would teach something completely different than other teachers.
Really good at preparing you for college. The higher courses definitely challenge you and prepare for college, but the school is huge and class sizes are large.
Overall Hempfield Highschool is a Great School to attend given the opportunities that it gives its students. Teachers are very nice and helpful with college/career planning. Its a rather safe school as well
The school is pretty decent. The people are a little rough, but they mean well for the most part. It's so big that it can be a little bit intimidating but it's quick to understand
My time at Hempfield was overall very enjoyable. The student body is very diverse, both ethnically and ideologically. If you find the right people to hang out with, you will have a great time there. My teachers and counselors were all very supportive of their students and there was always someone to go to if you needed something. Hempfield is also a school that recognizes the benefits of the art and music programs, and these departments rarely receive budget cuts. Hempfield prepares students well for college by encouraging students to advocate for themselves, while giving a little more teacher encouragement than you would find at college. The school offers a wide range of unique clubs and extracurricular activities that appeal to students of all kinds. Hempfield offers many Advanced Placement classes in each core subject as well as foreign languages, computer science, art, and others. Overall, I would classify Hempfield as a good academic and cultural environment for students.
Hempfield High School does such an amazing job in every aspect. The academics and teachers are amazing, as are the extra curricular opportunities. Being just freshly graduated from here, I have nothing but praise for this school district.
Hempfield offers a wide variety of academics, anywhere from AP classes to tech classes. Through my time at Hempfield, I found that the math department was really good at preparing students for college math classes.
Hempfield High School is an average American school that included an average amount of art and sport opportunities.
Some of the teachers obviously care about their job and go out of the way for their student's success... and others, well they obviously do not.
The teachers are all really great people and care about your future education and success. However, the building is not exactly exceptional. All in all, I would not have wanted any other high school experience.
They give you a lot of great opportunities. There are a lot of classes to chose from to help you figure out what you want to do when you are older.
Hempfield definitely prepared me for college. Faculty are helpful and want to see their students succeed. All extracurricular activities are exceptional from sports, to the arts, and even to clubs.
The kids are too clicky. If you are not a drinker or a druggie then you are not popular. The atmosphere promotes drug use. If you are a nice, normal, quiet, non drug user then you are not popular. There are not many African Americans there, thus the school has a very white population and thus is very racist. The teachers are pretty cool and the college prep is pretty good. I would say it has prepared me well for college. The sports there are average. All the money and the praise is put on the football team which never has a good record, ever. The ice hockey team was awesome and so was the roller hockey team. We were undefeated and won states, but the school doesn't acknowledge the hockey teams as school sports so we didn't get hardly any attention like the bad football team did. It's a shame how things are. We still wore the Hempfield name on our chests even though we were not recognized!
Hempfield is a great school with many valuable resources to help prepare you for college and your future career. Though I believe that the building itself could be updated, the students, teachers, and administrators truly make the high school experience worthwhile and enjoyable.
They had a lot of options to take AP classes and get college credit in many different academic areas. All of the teachers of those classes really did their best to prepare you for the exams so that you would be able to skip those classes in college and potentially get ahead.
As a parent of two students who have graduated from HHS I was always amazed by the cheapness of this school district. I have always felt the district is more focused on saving money for pensions and benafits for its workers then anything else. It’s hard to find anything in the district that has not been sold to a sponsor of some sort. When I visit other districts I’m always amazed to find they have not sold out yet. It’s a shame to have students see there school sold and not be able to reap the benefits.
