Overall, Heathwood is an amazing school. I love attending Heathwood because not only is it academically challenging, but it is a place where teachers truly care about their students academically and personally. Heathwood has teachers who will spend one on one time with students after school, and are always open for extra help. Most teachers are very consistent with grading, teaching and their overall presentation. It is rare that a teacher is not at school, unless they are extremely ill or are out of town. When I was in public school, we would have substitutes all the time. I rarely have them now, which makes everything more consistent. The athletics seem to lack sometimes at Heathwood. Our football program is slowly but surely growing. Our mens basketball seems to perform well, and addition our track/cross country does as well. I hope the spirit from the student section grows for our sports, and that more parents get involved. Go Highlanders!

A decent school all around. Clubs here are weak and the school offers limited AP classes. Arts program - solid. No IB program. College counclers - not the best(hated by some). Amazing English department. Science department is being reconstructed after losing several teachers but the facilities are great. Math department - solid. 2/4 of the history teachers are great. The others are average. Foreign language here is a land mine depending on the teacher you get. All teachers will know your name and have some connection with you, most want you to succeed. The vibe here is predictably cliquey but not in a bad way.
It's a great school from K-8, but the high school is quite limited. For $20,000, you get a couple of AP class options and a couple of fine arts, except the band program is quite small. The class size is too small. In a group of 60 or less kids, you are forced to fit in with everyone else, or else you will not have friends. It's not like a public school where there are hundreds of kids to be friends with. Heathwood is an okay school.
