Hawley high school does a great job preparing students for college courses and the college experience. Many Hawley alumni have stated they are better prepared for college courses than their friends because of the rigorous courses Hawley provided, and the rate at which teachers taught them to simulate real college courses. Hawley High School provides students with nutritious lunches, and a weekly breakfast plan. It is a school of very low crime, and teachers ensure safety to every student. Hawley also offers competitive extracurricular activities, and has a high graduation rate.
I, overall, enjoyed my time at Hawley High School. The school did not have a lot of students and my graduating class had a size of 76. I was able to know my class very well by the time for graduation. The faculty and teachers were great. They were easy to work with, made time for the students, and were willing to help their students. I wish my class size was larger. Since my class did have many students, I usually got to interact with the same people on a regular basis for years. Yes, I was able to make some really close friends, but I would love to have had even more people that would diversify my classroom more than just the same people for years. Otherwise, my time in Hawley was a great experience that prepared me well for life beyond high school and higher education.
I had moved to Hawley, MN from California a week before my Junior year had started. As anyone would be for their first day of school in a new town and even a new state, I was extremely nervous. It was a complete change from where I had attended school from before. The grade system was completely harder and I struggled for the longest time. My teachers pushed and pushed me and showed me that if I worked hard enough everything would pay off. Making friends was easy, everyone welcomed me with open arms.
