Havre de Grace High School Reviews

Overall my experience at Havre de Grace High School was so-so. Administration did very little to help African American students. The teacher’s willingness to see their students succeed made up for the lack of administrative help (of course there are a handful teachers that do not really help or have a select group students they chose to help). The passion of the music department and the Boys Basketball team definitely helped the experience (although the sports department did not really help the team and the parents had to push to make everything happen and their treatment of the parents of the team on HOME games was absolutely horrendous, a parent should not have to worry about getting to see there child play). When it came to College pre, I basically did everything myself there was no help or guidance. Overall, the Administration and department heads (as well as their treatment towards minority students) are the main reason as to why this school received such a bad rating.
During my time at Havre de Grace High School, I had great teachers. They were always happy to help me when I was struggling in the classroom, at home, or on the field. The staff were excited for me when I accomplished a goal. I enjoyed having a smaller school setting, as there were smaller class sizes that I believe contributed to my success. Havre de Grace High School has a lot of school spirit, which makes spirit week, homecoming, and sporting events a lot of fun. Everyone knows just about everyone- which could be a good or bad thing depending on who you ask. A lot of AP courses are available with qualified teachers to teach them. However, I wish there were more options for electives. There are not many to be offered, and I think that the school would benefit from a variety of electives. The school has a fairly diverse population, and electives would help a lot of students.
I've had a good 4 years of being at this high school, the variety of classes isn't that great though but I love the small town environment
Havre de Grace High School was a wonderful experience for me. It was a small school for a small town were everyone knew everyone. The teachers helped any one who needed it and were available most days after school to help if it was needed.
Transferring into Havre De Grace as a junior allowed me to experience multiple high school atmospheres. I was especially shocked upon my arrival of how welcoming and supportive this community was. The student body and staff interact like family and has a home like feel within the walls. The only complaint I could ever give is the expected nose-wrinkling reaction to the bathrooms. In contradiction, we have a new school just down the road ready for students this coming school year, so problem solved!
Administration and faculty are very good and helpful. Facilities could be better, but a new school is currently being built which should improve these minor problems.
Havre de Grace is a quiet high school and is a tight-knit family. We all stick together and have been there for each other to help us rise to the occasion.
Havre De Grace High School has many motivated and hard working teachers. The school is also very involved in the community. The school itself, could use some work though. bathroom stalls and sinks are always broke. There are always roof leaks. The other students there bully each other.
Many of the teachers and students do care about their futures and what they want to do, but I feel like they don't prepare us enough for it.
There’s barley any fights, there is minimum bulliying, and there are reasonable sized classes. You can always build a connection with the teachers there.
To me Havre de Grace high school was a great school to attend. The student population is very small so students have an endless amount of opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities. Your teachers also known you on a personal level.
I have met the most amazing people. Most of the teachers truly care about their students and it’s a small school so everyone knows each other. On game days school spirt is EVERYWHERE!! People are proud to wear school colors and cheer for our sports team. I am apart of the Biomedical Sciences at school and it is a program full of brilliant, hardworking students.
It's a small school so everyone knows each other!! Also, most of the teachers and staff their are very friendly and maintain positive relationships with their students and I have met some of my closest friends there.
I have been a student at the prestigious Havre de Grace high school for six years, and i have no shame in saying that this has been the greatest seven years of my life. Id like to thank Megan for being the best english teacher i could ask for. Id also like to thank Jimmy for always telling me to take my hat off, thanks dad :)
It was an okay school. Overall, all public school systems need more 'real world' readiness classes throughout high school, not just only available for seniors.
Amazing environment. Small school, so everyone is close knit. We’re all part of the WarriorFamily and the school is our #Home.
The best thing about Havre de Grace high school would be the sports. Everyone has warrior spirit. The teachers, students, parents, even other schools. One thing I really do appreciate is how the teachers try their best to make teaching fun and they help out as much to make sure each student is taught well academically. The school has so much spirit that it's shared through out other schools too.
