Hauppauge High School was a wonderful experience for me. I feel blessed that I was able to grow up in a town with such a great school district. They offered AP classes, College Classes through Syracuse and The International Baccalaureate Program. They encourage their students to receive the highest education and allow for a fantastic preparation for college. The music and arts programs and the athletics are a plus for this school. The faculty is great and they are continuing to work on facilities for students. The golf room could use some improvements, but the pool is a huge plus.
Quality academics and access to very qualified teachers. Although, I wish there were better labs and machines, and a greater focus on hands on learning. Students are not encouraged to partake in academic interests beyond those of their courses as resources to do so is limited. The school does push students to incorporate higher level courses into their schedules and offers a high quality education. Class size is small overall, with around 200-300 students in a grade.
The Administration and Staff are extremely available and responsive. I feel like this is the safest, structured place to send a child. Like any school, issues are abundant. But, they don’t turn a blind eye to it. They acknowledge the issues that exist and really want to continue making the school better.
