Hastings High School is a small school located just north of the city of New York. It is attached to Farragut Middle School which has grades 5-8. Our experience with this high school has been great. The teachers seem to be very dedicated and work with the students based on their individual needs. There are a lot of opportunities for students to get extra help or join clubs after school. Being there through Covid we felt assured that they were doing their best to keep everyone safe. The nursing staff had an especially difficult time and went above and beyond. We have 2 kids currently attending the school who play sports and participate in school activities, like pep rallies and school dances. Aside from the usual challenges high schoolers face, our kids enjoy being there.
I'm currently a senior at HHS and still can't believe I'll be going to college soon and that my time here is coming to an end. Throughout my 4 years, I have taken classes with such amazing, supportive, and understanding teachers, and I am really going to miss all of them after I graduate. Even during the quick, unexpected transition to online learning last spring due to COVID-19, I had teachers who went above and beyond to change their lessons to be more Zoom-friendly and make themselves available to students who needed help. I will say that nothing in life is perfect, and HHS still has it's quirks and drawbacks here and there*, but overall I really had a pretty great high school experience and I feel like I'm prepared for college in the fall.
*For example, HHS is a small and most students have been going to school together since kindergarten, so new students might feel alienated at first. However, everyone is pretty nice, and you would not believe how fast most people make friends!

They pretend to be such a great school when everything is really just average. They misuse their funds and then complain when the state realizes that and takes some of it away. They do not take things seriously; the teachers are quite perverted. Some of the teachers don't even teach or are not qualified to be teaching, a good portion of them are also racist. One of their guidance counselors is very racist and the school does nothing about it. They claim to be one of the best schools in the state and in Westchester County when they're not. The school lunches are terrible, and everything is so expensive. The funds are not distributed evenly between the sports teams, the football team gets most of the money even though they're very bad. Most of the kids that go here hate going here and wish they could move. I would not recommend Hastings High School for anyone; matter of fact get out while you can
