We are a new family, and I was a little nervous about HBA being too strict. I’m so glad we gave HBA a chance! Our kindergarten and first grader are thriving at HBA! They love their teachers, and their behavior at home has improved by being held to high academic and behavioral standards, in an a grace and gospel infused environment. They have learned so much this past year, and we are so happy that they will be able to attend HBA throughout the rest of their grade and high school years. If I could give HBA more than five stars I would. I can’t say enough good things about this school!
I attended harvest baptist academy from later elementary school to some of high school. My experience there was quite favorable during my elementary school years, and the environment and education was well structured. I learned many introductory subjects and parts of grammar, creative writing, and cursive, that I wouldn’t have received at public schools. However, high school was mediocre. Additionally, uniforms were quite old fashioned, to the point of struggle to even find uniforms due to different body types of my sibling and I. Class environments are also VERY right leaning, with class discussions having “correct” answers defined by the pastors and teachers personal beliefs. The college prep was inadequate, preparing only for baptist colleges the school recommended, and an SAT class pushing me to associates degrees maximum because I was female. However, education/1 on 1 helping teachers was wonderful, and if conservative values are your core, over “the whole package,” Id recommend.
First and foremost, the environment at Harvest is hard to beat! No place is perfect, but boy does the staff love the kids and they try so hard to encourage kind and understanding behavior between the kids. I have several children in the school who have all attended since kindergarten. They all have different academic abilities and I have been pleased and thankful with how the various teachers have gone out of their way to help those who struggled and push those for who things come more easily.
I do understand that the high school has fewer academic options than a public school, but I’m actually more concerned about the environment that my children are learning in than them having an over abundance of course selection. And as the school is growing, more and more is being added.
