Harrisonburg High School has excellent academics and system that truly does its best to prepare you for life after high school. Although there seems to be several restrictions by the administration, it really has gotten better over the past four years, and they do everything that they are (legally) allowed to do. They really do their best to do what they can for their students (even though several students seem to think otherwise).

Additionally, Harrisonburg High School has an amazing Fine Arts Program (specifically their award-winning drama and theatre program). HHS's Fine Arts program encourages self-expression, collaboration, and positive and meaningful connections with its local and global community.
Review Harrisonburg High School
I attended Harrisonburg High School grades 9-12. This school is extremely diverse, allowing students to become more culturally aware. There are a wide variety of classes offered and students have the ability to choose their own pathway. There are also several programs offered such as the STEM Academy, The Fine Arts Academy, and The Blue Ridge Early College Scholars Program. The teachers here are extremely supportive of the students. In addition to the academics, the school also has many clubs that students can join and become involved in. At HHS, we also have an anti-bullying policy that has helped to decrease the bullying in the school.
It's really diverse and there are lots of opportunities if you're willing to look for them. Unfortunately, it's pretty crowded, but the school board is working on it. Most of the teachers are really incredible and they love their jobs, but you know there's definitely a few who aren't. It's definitely cliquey in that there are defined friend groups, but people also aren't completely shut off to new people and outsiders. It's very liberal, which I think is kind of a backlash to the conservative county. Also we have refugees and immigrants from all over the world which is a privilege, and also make the hallways interesting.
