Harrison Preparatory School welcomes everyone from grades 6th to 12th, striving to be a welcoming environment and stable foundation for those to pursue their dreams in the next chapter of their lives. Since enrolling at the start of high school, I found that while there are many challenges, similar to any other school, Harrison Prep (HP) takes an extra step with the IB program to ensure that we develop strong abilities in academics and create essential life skills in order to succeed. A majority of the staff greet me with kindness and respect and I couldn't appreciate it more. One of the distinctions that HP has compared to other schools is that sports are unavailable. While artistic clubs such as art and theater are available, I think that school pride is more difficult to portray, thus being one of the things I would change.
The school's provided academics are outstanding as well as the community, but sadly teachers, junior year and up, provide a poor working environment for stable aid. If its not the monotone math teacher who gives up on students when they 'talk too much', it has to be the over emotional, frustrated at everyone, history teacher, and if its not any of those, then it has to be the literature teacher who hates student-teacher connection. From a teachers standpoint, the office workers and the staff are very connected and form a great bond, but from a students standpoint, the teachers seem to be biased against the students.
I LOVE my school! I have had many of the same teachers and advisors throughout my middle and high school career. I feel well known and cared about personally by them. I feel that my education has been challenging and excellent. I feel well prepared and supported by my teachers for my next life steps.
