I like the small town feel of this school. It is very small, which gives students and faculty more opportunities to work one on one. Academics are very important there, and students are strongly encouraged to interact and participate in many school activities, including clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities.
One unique aspect about this school, is how the teachers are all very well equipped to helping the students in any situation, whether it's teaching the kids, or counseling them through life. There are many alternatives to learning at HHS. There are many students who are either accelerating at a fast pace or a slower pace, and at Harrisburg, students are given alternatives to learning. Whether it's getting one on one tutoring, or being put in a college lever class.

Coming from a small town in Oregon, Harrisburg High School was one of the few school districts I could transfer to after furthering my education at a previous school district was not for me. The teachers and staff are very welcoming and helpful for someone like me that was new and anxious about all of the changes that were bound to happen in my junior and senior year. While the students tended to have their cliques, since they had all grown up together for years, my peers were open to fresh opportunities with myself. All in all, expanding communication skills and core values, such as education is their main priority which my parents and I appreciated.
I love the small town atmosphere and tightly knit community. However, in a school with only 300 people, there just aren't as many educational and diverse options available to HHS students as there are for larger city schools. The best part about attending HHS is how involved the community gets. Everyone's parents show up for the football games on Friday nights, even if their kid doesn't play sports! There are signs in almost every shop window that say "Go Eagles!" to support our school. Best of all, we have a really fun Homecoming/Spirit Week! From dressing up and having student lead competitions to Powder Puff Football games and a controlled Car Bash, there is never a dull moment at Harrisburg High when Homecoming rolls around. Yeah, this school isn't the greatest if you're looking to be the next World Genius, but if you're looking for a genuine, down-to-earth school, HHS is just the place. Good things really do come in small packages.
