Hancock Junior/Senior High School Reviews
Rating 3.43 out of 5 37 reviews
I would say a big upside to Hancock central is how small the school body was. It made it so you knew most everyone in the building, students and staff alike. This helped form strong peer bonds as well as teacher-to-student bonds, forming connections and the like. These connections made the learning more personable and easy to grasp. Beyond the size, Hancock central is just a typical middle/high school with all the tropes and stereotypes. I think the relationships built there were important, and some last to this day. I’m happy that the school is giving the students more opportunities to further themselves academically, classes, scholarships, or class trips that I didn’t have when attending. It’s important to find new mediums of learning for the students that are fresh and exciting, as well as giving them chances to bask in their own achievements and success. Knowing the kids are appreciated and thought of is very important to me.
The food is disgusting, some students refuse to eat it. The staff has favorites. Students are racist and punishment is minimum.
Hancock is a very good school safety wise. If you talk about academics it is a different story. The students have very few electives to take including college courses. They are starting to offer more college classes now than ever but they are still behind their time in that category. There is almost zero help preparing for the SAT, and also little help when it comes to looking into colleges and figuring out what you want to do with your life. Overall I would say the school is okay, but could use a more college and career ready focus.
