Through my four years of being here, I really cannot complain. There are really inspiring teachers, a very caring principal, loads of opportunities to get involved, and there is so much school spirit. I personally do band and JROTC, and there are also so many clubs; it is impossible to not be involved!
I also see all of my friends that have graduated being successful in finding their career paths and being able to execute them! And the alumni always visit!

This year I'm a senior at this school, and my experience has been great! The teachers have made a huge impact on me and are very passionate about what they do. They have made applying for colleges and exploring career choices a lot less stressful!
I have been in college for almost four full years now. While I did feel prepared to start college, it was mostly out of self-determination not college prep from my high school. All of the AP classes offered at Hancock high school are wonderful and the teachers that teach those specific classes were great. I did not get as much experience with non-honors or AP classes, but from what I could tell they were less than satisfactory. The students didn't learn enough to prepare themselves for college, so most of them did not go. This is an unfortunate reality for lots of high school students in Mississippi. A good chunk of students I graduated with in 2015 never made it out of the county because they fell victim to drug abuse or had children before they turned 20. One thing our school district really needs to work on is sex education. Ignoring the issue and/or teaching abstinence is not working.
