During my years at this school, I have seen many improvements in the school system that have made the school very good. The students in this school have a voice as surveys are sent out constantly to ask what we think about events, designs, dress codes, etc. This small high school is great for me since teachers are always willing to help you individually during our study period (ACADEMIC LAB). My peers are also extremely kind and willing to lend a helping hand when needed. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the building and resources, which are going to change soon since we are getting a new building!

I applied to Hancock without knowing anyone there, I was new to the neighborhood, but now i'm glad I applied tot his school. I meet many friends and the staff there is really friendly and supportive. They encourage their students a lot to go to college or have a plan ready once they graduate. The staff is really understanding when it comes to their students, yes they will push the students to succeed, but they also keep in mind their mental health and will have dedicated days for workshops like dancing or just an overall break. I really love the school and their way of teaching. Would definitely recommend others to go and become part of this high school.
Hancock being the first selective enrollment school around the neighborhood has been amazing. I started off my high school years a little rough because the amount of work but Hancock helped me become a better student throughout the years. Hancock offers challenging AP and dual credit classes, and has teachers which successfully prepare us. The only thing that which pulled me back from giving it the full stars was that I believe that the school could have done more in is preparing us for the college application process, for example they should have implemented us with writing a personal statement in our junior year. I felt so lost about the college process coming into senior year, but then I met with a councilor which really helped me and guided me but that was only because I came to her.
