During my years at this school, I have seen many improvements in the school system that have made the school very good. The students in this school have a voice as surveys are sent out constantly to ask what we think about events, designs, dress codes, etc. This small high school is great for me since teachers are always willing to help you individually during our study period (ACADEMIC LAB). My peers are also extremely kind and willing to lend a helping hand when needed. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the building and resources, which are going to change soon since we are getting a new building!

Hancock College Prep is an overall decent high school. The community is mostly Latino and is generally pretty friendly. Honestly, the best thing about the school is the teachers and the counselors. We can't say much about the size of the campus but the staff is definently a plus. The counselors and teachers actually reach out to faltering students and help keep them on track for college. Another unsung hero is the student council, who have actually put a lot of effort into events like an off campus homecoming. You'll realize this more the closer you get to graduation. A lot of this stuff is taken for granted but it really is amazing how much work has been put into improving the school considering the state it was in just four years ago.
I think that academically Hancock is a very good school. A lot of the teachers do a really good job on making sure that we all understand the curriculum. They make sure that we are engaged as students, that we participate. Hancock is a diverse school, and we see a variety of people, from different backgrounds. Once Senior year comes around, counselors make sure that we are applying to schools that we really want, they make sure that the choices we make are our own. They make sure Seniors are ready and getting all the things that they need for college.
