I’m currently at Hammond and it is one of the worst experiences I have had so far. The school thinks that they are an amazing and a “well known” national private school. Their teachers don’t really care about teaching, they just want their next pay check. Also, the school cares too much about atheltics, such as football. They bring in so many kids on scholarships and they don’t do anything beneficial to the academics. Some of their grades bring down the class gpa average. Also we have way too many exchange students that take the top places in the class. I feel as if Chinese is the second language of our school. Honestly if you are looking at Hammond for a chance for your child for college. I recommend boarding school because that is what I’m doing. The colleges I want to go to are impossible to get into at Hammond. The majority of the students go to University of South Carolina, some Clemson, and others really small irrelevant private colleges.

Hammond has well prepared me for my next step in life, college. Not only have they prepared my academically, but socially. Hammond requires you to give a speech to the entire upper school body in order to graduate, and I believe this and other public speaking opportunities have greatly benefited my confidence. I feel as though Hammond would benefit by offering more elective classes and hiring a couple more teachers to focus mainly on those electives.
I loved that Hammond was so welcoming to my family and I. I have never felt more ready to enter this next chapter of college. During my time there I was in Spirit Cheerleading with some amazing girls, also the animal club and FCA. I transitioned from a small school to Hammond and it was quite the culture shock but with help from all the loving, caring teachers I was able to find my stride and become extremely successful by the end of my time there. Hammond is a place that will dwell in my heart forever, I will never forget the amazing friends and people I met there.
