The student body and dedicated teachers make this school so great! I have attended two other schools before high school and neither came close to being as fun as Hamilton. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves academically and in other areas of their lives. Colgate University has a large impact on the school; and I believe it is a positive one. Many of my friends' parents work for Colgate. Our administration is great as well. Students care so much about everything that they put their time into that it makes for a great atmosphere.

At Hamilton Central School, the extracurricular opportunities are nearly endless. Although we are small, we are a college town and receive a good amount of funding and grants from Colgate University and the adults and teachers in our school couldn't be more supportive. This allows for a large variety of extracurriculars. There is a Fall play and a Spring musical every year with casts of nearly 70 students for each and there are modified and and varsity sports teams for girls and boys soccer, girls field hockey, boys football, track, cross country, volleyball, baseball, softball, golf and bowling. Students are also encouraged to start their own clubs at HCS. Recently a student started a branch of Amnesty International that has weekly meetings. We have several clubs and organizations like the National Honor Society, the High School Language Club, Advocates, Almeda Cares Organization and Students Against Destructive Decisions for students to be a part of.
Hamilton is really the best place to get an education in the area, the opportunities given to students far outreach those of other schools around us and bigger schools in Syracuse or Utica. The connection to Colgate opens up a lot of doors and because of that we can take up to 7 AP classes, most kids take at least 2 and the top students take at least 6 along with classes at Colgate, this is very rare for a public school of this size. The academics are really what you make them and it is your choice if you want to coast or if you want to push your intellectual limits with the most challenging courses. At Hamilton there are different friend groups but there are no real cliques, people are really accepting here as long as you are outgoing and try to make friends. People at Hamilton are really involved and generally intelligent. there is a reason we are one of the best schools in the nation and consistently send graduates to very prestigious colleges
