Class sizes are way, way over the 22:1 ratio listed here. Last year my older daughter had 29-30 kids, this year she has 28. Between normal disruptions, kids who may have other issues, and the pressure to stay on calendar track with the curriculum, there is no time or desire to assist kids who maybe need some extra help with a subject. I feel like I’m home schooling my children when they get home after school. We came from out of state and are incredibly disappointed with this school. Too much focus on test scores, no leadership, cliques of parents, and a lot of kids who are just plain mean to one another. Lots of self congratulating on how well-rated the school is, but no desire to hear constructive criticism or get better. If this is the best that the Portland area has to offer, I’m aghast at thinking what else must be out there.

Teachers stay aware how much workload they are assiging. When they see students having difficulty, they slow down, reduce the homework, and concentrate on the issues kids are having. My kids are very confident knowing their teacher will not brush them off if they say they dont understand something. We've had teachers in other schools ignore our kids because they had to move on to the next subjects. Teachers here take the time to teach rather than hand kids packets for them to figure out on their own.
The school not having air conditioning really bothers me. During the warm days, every classrom has thier doors open. The doors open to the outside. Its not very safe in my opinion, anyone can walk right into the classroom.
