My overall experience at Halifax Area High School was an average high school experience for most. Yes, I had some low points throughout high school but most students do. But Halifax was a good school for helping build character, but it lacked helping me prepare myself for my future in many ways.
I'm a student here. If you're a minority student, I'd say to be wary going here. I'm lgbt, and I've been harassed and bullied by students, some of which run down the halls screaming, and others of which simply punch people in the stomach. These students are rarely punished. Most of the teachers are polite, and the range of activities is okay, but there's much to be desired.
During my time at Halifax Area High School, I experienced many things. I was able to become involved in many clubs and activities, as well as be a part of the varsity cheerleading squad. These activities molded me into the person that I am today, and for that I am grateful. But, I also had many negative experiences while at Halifax. I was the Junior and Senior Student Body Representative, and with this job I had the responsibility of attending the school board meetings every other week. During the two years in this position, I experienced how immature people in our community and on our school board can be. I learned how a group of people will get absolutely nothing done if the only thing that they do is argue and not have the willingness to compromise with each other.
