Halau Ku Mana Public Charter School was really an amazing school for me for the 7 years that I've attended. The school wasn't like any other school whereas Halau Ku Mana was Hawaiian culture based. For example, Halau Ku Mana did many things that many other schools do as well such as read, do math, take tests, have a lunch period but the Halau Ku Mana took their students and taught outside to apply the knowledge that the students learned in class, the students were able to attend different political, social, and educational events, and once a week each grade level would visit outside organizations or a place out of school and learn cultural knowledge from foreign and native practitioners. Although it wasn't a major problem for the school, Halau Ku Mana had a really small campus and funds were also limited but besides that I wouldn't change anything.

As an employee I can see the change that happened after I graduated and upon my return. Nowadays, times has progressed and technology has improved and adolescents are more in need of more personal connections. I have a greater desire and see a greater need for them to learn a balance between the two.

There is a 2:10 teacher to student ratio so each individual receives one-on-one teaching. Overall it is known for specializing
