Hagerty High School Reviews

Overall I had a very positive experience at Hagerty High school. I always had access to the most advanced courses offered at my grade level and was able to complete 15 Ap courses while here. Each class I took I was taught by a teacher were genuinely wanted their students to learn from the material and leaves the class better than they entered. Also, I always felt that the school was very organized and structured in a way that allowed for the students to achieve their best. I also participated in several sports and had great experiences with the coaches and teammates. I felt that they were highly demanding while never taking away from my performance in the classroom. The only negative thing I can say about Hagerty is the lack of diversity and outside exposure. As a result of its location, it is populated mostly by white students and the upper middle class. Because of this, it seemed to lose some sense of life outside of our bubble.
Hagerty High School has provided me with a safe and caring place as a center of learning with teachers who are passionate about the subjects they teach and go beyond the realm of their job description to truly help their students learn and succeed in their class. During my time here I have gone to afterschool math tutoring sessions held by my math teacher at the time who would put in time with each student individually and help out with certain topics or homework that they didn't understand at all or simply needed some extra guidance with. This is just one example of many in which teachers have gone out of their way to help students succeed. I however believe that worst part of my school is the lack of school sponsored spirit events. These events, although a privilege, play an important part within a schools identity and the pride that a student within it feels. This lack of pride has led to myself and others not feeling apart of the school but just another student within it.
I would feel unsafe with a bunch of students and feel that there are insane rules put on the school at times. We aren't allowed to have feminine products in the restrooms or allowed to buy anything out of the school lunch. However, when it comes to behavior problems among students, they let more slide. It made me feel unsafe in the past. I do enjoy talking to my friends and the performing arts and elective teachers and administration are great. I enjoy the extracurriculars a lot, just not the academic side of things. I think the rules have to change and be enforced not based on your sex, gender, or anything else. Monitoring your time spent in the restroom won't change things, but the rules that are causing the problems being changed will.
