I loved attending Gulf Coast High School! Our football team isn’t the best, but that’s easily cancelled out by how good the band is. I was in band, and we even marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2015! Our academics are unparalleled, and I keep hearing about new AP or AICE classes being added all the time, even though I graduated two years ago. We have an excellent music program and and an amazing theatere program as well. Anyone in Naples would be unwise to not send thier child to school here.

At Gulf Coast High School, academics is taken very seriously. The school offers a plethora of AP and AICE classes as well as dual enrollment courses. The focus of GCHS is to prepare students to be as successful as possible in their collegiate endeavors— this includes opportunities from peer-lead study groups to SAT/ACT prep. The school also offers many student and teacher-led clubs that can enhance a student’s portfolio or simply be a fun extra-curricular activity. The school also has a very extensive band program with over 400 members — the band is very proud of the accomplishments they have achieved (of which includes playing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade). School spirit is also very much alive for the athletics department with many of their teams having one or multiple state championship titles. Overall, Gulf Coast High School is an excellent school for any student to attend.
My experience with Gulf Coast was indifferent in the way that it did not exceed my expectations, nor did it severely disappoint me. I think something that could be done to better the school, would be to educate staff on how to properly teach kids with learning disabilities such as ADHD/ADD. Staff need more patience and education with how to handle teens growing up with learning disabilities and teens that struggle with problems at home. Counselors need to be given more resources on how to properly issue advice to confused/struggling/challenged teens.
