Attending this high school was the biggest disappointment ever. This is a "good old boys" school that has been doing business the same way for way too long. They cater to upper class smart kids and direct them to good colleges. They completely dismiss the other half of the student population-the average kids, minorities (as it was my case), and students with special needs. Athletics here are embarrassing. There are a few good varsity teams with winning records and believe me, those are the ones you will hear about. Don't let the test scores fool you! And don't underestimate the importance of diversity, in the students, the classes and the teachers. I would rate this school average. The administration places more emphasis on the faculty than to the student body.

This community is very tight-knit. If you weren't born in the area you might find it hard to fit in. I've made many life-long friends here. I've had to deal with a guidance counselor who doesn't care about my needs, and many of my friends have had the same experience. There have been scandals of changing grades behind the scenes at this school. While on the outside they preach about inclusiveness and love, the whole school is elitist and thrives on the support of rich parents in the community. The academics are very rigorous, so you will be well prepared for college-level classes.
When first entering ninety grade, I was super nervous and had heard horrid high school experiences which made me very weary. I soon found all of those stories to be wrong. Gulf Breeze high school is everything and more. Everyone is very welcoming and the teachers are focused on the students success. The before and after school programs such as sports and academic clubs are exceptional and have helped to build my character as I participated regularly. I can’t imagine a better high school experience; I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to go to Gulf Breeze High School.
