The academics are average, there are honors courses for each year. The courses are average in difficulty. Most of the teachers are very good, they are all willing to help out! Certain departments lack good teachers, like the science and spanish ones. I have heard different things about college readiness. I think it depends on the student. For high achieving students going into honors programs in college, they say that they struggled in college. Average students say that they are ready for college. School culture is not too good, most staff and students do not care about showing off school pride or supporting the performing arts or sports. Sports are pretty bad because of the recruitment by the coaches, like no one comes here for the sports and the sports programs have a bad reputation from previous years. I do have to say though, there are many parents that are willing to help out with school activities such as sports, and they are a big help to the sports team.

My daughter is currently a junior at Guerin. My wife and I have been extremely happy with all of our experiences at the school. The teachers have been absolutely wonderful to deal with, our daughter is being challenged in her classes with great success. The band program is outstanding as is the new athletic director who is working with a greatly improved set of coaches/managers. The new president and staff have a clear vision of the future for Guerin and it is definitely headed in the right direction.
I enjoyed my freshman through senior years in high school, and took many honors and AP courses which kept me busy and challenged. Also, had some really amazing friends and enthusiastic teachers. Although my coursework kept me very busy, I was involved in many extra-curricular activities and was also Student Ambassador and a member of the National Honor Society. My junior and senior years were a little stressful with college visits and filling out applications, but it was a learning experience for me. I have many fond memories of my high school and it has helped me transition to college life quite well. I miss my friends who have gone on to different schools but we keep in touch.
