From Griffin School

Founded in 1996, Griffin School provides students with a high school program that values individuality, creativity, and community. What makes Griffin unique is the balance between a rigorous college preparatory academic program and a vibrant, creative and supportive school community. Our interactive classes are capped at fifteen students and academic programming fosters artistic expression, critical thinking, and genuine involvement in the school and Austin community. We offer Advanced Placement courses across all disciplines, a broad array of fine arts classes, and a competitive sports program. We are located in Central Austin in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood.

    We truly cannot imagine a better high-school experience than what is offered by the entire community at the Griffin School! Adam and Caroline Wilson, as well as the faculty and staff they have assembled, truly see each student's unique attributes and know how to cultivate confidence, responsibility, leadership, and civic engagement. Griffin graduates, like our older son (2015) are fully equipped to take on the challenges of college life with academic readiness and maturity. Current students, like our younger son (2020) enjoy small class sizes, committed teachers, and limitless opportunities to develop their own creative genius. If you choose Griffin for your son or daughter, you will be amazed by what they discover about themselves and their abilities.

    We so love our Griffin School family. One daughter graduated in 2016 and found herself very well prepared for college life at UT Austin. Griffin turned out to be a wonderful place for our son who is more interested in science and math. Griffin sets high standards academically but for personal responsibility as well. The drug policy is strictly enforced. This means that each year some students are asked not to return if they are unable to comply. Griffin is a healthy, dynamic place and we have enjoyed watching our own children learn and grow. The smaller size allows the teachers to develop relationships with the students that positively impact a student's ability to learn and master the academic subjects. I rest easy knowing my kids have access to other caring adults to help shepherd them through their high school years. Come see for yourself!
    When I think about the Griffin School, the first word that comes to mind is community. The school is most definitely a community, and one that includes every student. My student is very quirky and not an easy student to teach; he applies great effort into keeping himself on the fringes of the group. However, they have pulled him in, and he has participated in a club! And attended the prom! And has made friends! And he is even considering starting another club next year! The arts focus is amazing, and the PE selections are out-of-the-box and varied. The teachers are quality. I highly recommend the Griffin School!
