From Grier School

Grier School is a girls' boarding school founded in 1853. Students learn in a supportive environment and become emboldened, engaged, and poised for the future. Young women find in-depth scholarship and wide variety in the Grier curriculum. At Grier, girls achieve a balance of analytical thinking, creative expression, and physical fitness. The purposeful balance in offerings ensures students graduate with technical knowledge in STEM and broad skills developed in the humanities, such as the ability to think critically, communicate clearly, and solve complex problems.

As an all girls boarding school, Grier boosted a positive studying environment and encouraged its students to strive for both rigorous academics and varied extracurriculars as well. I particularly enjoyed the all-girls atmosphere, as it encouraged my participation and gave me a sense of community unparallelled by any co-ed school.

I have homeschooled my daughter for 8 years, and then she wanted a different experience for high school. Far from home, independent.

It's has been 6 months and she is having great time, except academic challenges coming from studying too much with her advanced classes, even though she had taken many college courses before.

My child is profoundly gifted so I wasn't sure if she will have enough intellectual peers, but she has enough intellectual peers who are just like her - heavy reader, deep interest in science and politics, etc.
Love the personal attention and caring teachers at this school. The international population allows students to encounter diverse cultures. Great to live away from home and learn to be on your own. The equestrian program allows for those who are passionate about riding the opportunity to just trail ride, or to join the teams and compete against other schools. Great help with college guidance and love that they bring college representatives to the students. Living with all girls can be challenging but it prepares you for college as well as living on your own. One of the things I would love to see is better food choices in the dining hall and longer hours if you want to get snacks after study hall.
