I loved my high school experience at Greenwood. The atmosphere of pep rallies and games was something I could never forget. I joined almost every club and cheered throughout my four years there. Being involved is what made me who I am. It brought out a whole other version of myself that I and everyone around me grew to love. I became more outgoing, gained leadership, and started to be more open. The only thing I would change about Greenwood, is the way our teachers wouldn’t allow some things to happen. We would do the smallest things that aren’t even worth getting in trouble for, yet we did. Other than that everything was fun and free. Most of the time I got out of classes because the teachers needed something or because I was done with my work. I wouldn’t change a single thing about my high school experience and hope to one day send my kids to school there too!
I love the theater program at Greenwood High School and how many academic options they have given us. Sophomore year I had the availability of taking AP World through the College Board and Introduction to Biology through the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. Junior year I was able to take AP US History through the College Board, Zoology, Microbiology, Comp 1, and Comp 2 through the University of Arkansas Fort Smith, and Algebra / Trigonometry through Arkansas Tech. Bullying through social media and other things still happen here as they do at every school which is one negative. I wish there was more diversity. Most of the school is straight Caucasian.
I have had a good experience at Greenwood High School, for the most part. I think we have an awesome math department, a good English and Social Studies department, but I think the science department is lacking. I am not the biggest fan of the administration because it doesn't seem that students are treated equitably. Those that are good students that are never in trouble are treated as bad as those who get suspended all the time. Sometimes, it seems as if it is "guilty until proven innocent" rather than "innocent until proven guilty. All things considered, I wouldn't rather go to any other school and I still have pride in this place. For the most part, everyone has been good to me and I am very appreciative of the education I have have received and will continue to receive from this place.
