This is my first year attending Green Valley High School and I am a senior. I moved before the school year to Nevada from the Big Island of Hawaii and I was very nervous to the change I was going to have in a different environment. I am taking all honors classes and I was worried that I was going to have a very low GPA because education back in Hawaii is not the best and is behind mainland public schools. Though coming towards the end of the first semester, I have GPA of around 3.5. My questions are always answered and more. My counselor will call me in to her office, even when I do not make an appointment, to go over my transcript and check if I'm all caught up with graduation requirements and if I need anything. My other classmates are also welcoming and inform me of events or occasions that are happening at school, for I am still getting familiar with the school. I am proud to be a gator!

My experience at Green Valley has been amazing. I’ve met so many people and made so many friends in the past 4 years here! I’ve even gotten opportunities I never thought I would or even heard about. I love how involved the teachers are with the students and that I can talk to my teachers about things I need help with and they listen, understand me, and try to help. The only thing I would change if I could is the perception of Green Valley by some people that go there. We actually have an amazing campus, a good environment, tons of school spirit, and it really makes me feel bad for underclassmen because I’ve been there and you don’t realise how much you’re going to miss it until you’re in Senior year. Overall, the past two years here have been the best years, since I made friends, came out of my shell, figured out who I am and what I’m interested in, figured out I do want to go to college, and really grew as a person.
As a current senior at Green Valley, it is easy to note the level of education that one can acquire here is absolutely exemplary. Noting this, it is important to consider the fact that it is also up the the student and parent(s)/guardian to understand the paths able to be taken and to dive into opportunities given.
Being part of many programs, one of the most influential has been the International Baccalaureate Program. With well qualified instructors and surrounded by academically driven students, it is the most desireable course of study available to students in the Clark County School District. Hopefully high schools and even more so, all educational institutions, can adopt this program to benefit students who wish to display their passion to learn.
Holistically, it is an exemplary school when one understands the methods of its functionality.
