I though Green River High School had a lot of great intentions, but failed on the execution part. In my 4 years of being a student there, I realized that the teaching became worse as it went forward. Principals made decisions that were no longer as logical as they could have been. For example, they hired a choir teacher that had previously been fired from teaching elementary students. She was likely the worst teacher the school had in the four years I attended. Additionally, there were hired teachers that many students found incredibly harsh. Those students began to struggle in those classes. My sister is one of them. In my Junior Year, my sister attended a class with a new math teacher. This teacher chose to be harsh on the students. My sister, along with many others, found the class to be more tedious and overwhelming. The administration needs more work on finding better teachers to educate the students.
Green River High School is a very amazing school. It has the best staff in the state of Wyoming and it is ranked 3rd in test taking. The school culture is unlike any other. Everyone is in it together no matter what the situation is. It is not just the school that is in it together, it is the whole community and I loved that about the school. If I could go back to high school, I wouldn't. That is because my experience was so phenomenal, and I am sure I can speak for most people when I say that. Even though we are in a small town, the school makes sure to keep safety their number one priority. I think the way Green River High School is going it is going to be just fine. The one thing I would change is the schedule they gave me my senior year. It was confusing for me, and I cannot imagine how the freshman felt. I am almost positive that they are changing it for the 2020 school year. Green River High School will always have a special place in my heart and I am proud to say I went there.
Green River High School was a wonderful institution that promoted equality and justice within the school system. The school allowed the students to have a voice when making decisions, and let them speak about what the district could do to make the learning environment better and safer for everyone.
